The pandemic has changed our lives completely. Right since March, when the entire country went under a lockdown, we have had a terrible time coping up with things and adapting to the new lifestyle.

The entertainment industry had to face numerous challenges with the initiation of the coronavirus. The upcoming movies were shifted from theatres to OTT platforms, and the TV soaps and serials had to stop shooting.

Now, with life slowly resuming pace, shoots have started to begin with all the necessary precautions. However, one particular serial has caught everyone’s attention because of its bizarre reopening episode.

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is a daily TV serial running for 11 years now! The show has earned quite a name for the various twists and turns that it provides. This time, however, the twist was indeed very, very “unique”.

The twist is what we would like to call a “Covid Twist”…

The show, highlighting the current on-going pandemic, resumed its episodes by making the characters wear masks and face shields.

Yep, you heard that right!

Now we have a show which has changed its entire script according to the looming coronavirus outside! And you say that Indian TV shows are not ‘realistic’.

The characters are primarily seen discussing about the virus and the various problems that the family has to face during the nationwide lockdown.

The lead couple were also seen performing the process that one needs to follow before leaving the house.

But hang on, it didn’t stop there.

Karthik (Mohsin Khan) was also shown (trying to) to kiss Naira (Shivangi Joshi) through her face shield…

It’s safe guys! This is the proper way…

Naturally, Twitter couldn’t handle the cringe and started doing what it does best:

We will let you know as soon as we find out!

Covid who?

Dropping truth bombs huh

Kehlata hai?

The usage of shields, masks and ‘romance’ has brought this show in the spotlight amidst millennials. And with it, came its memes.

Can you guess what followed this?

These memes automatically promoted the show on social media.

The fact that a Netflix-generation is discussing about a saas-bahu soap opera is testimonial to the real power of memes on the internet.

One who has the control over memes, has the control over everything.
